THE FUTURE OF TEXTILE RECYCLING IS HERE
Creating a zero carbon textile ecosystem
VISION
We’re Changing the Way the World Thinks About Textiles
Simply throwing your unwanted textiles like clothes, towels, sheets, hats, and other forms of textiles in the garbage when you don't have any more use for them, does not get rid of them. You have merely just relocated them from your closet to the nearest landfill where it can spend up to 200 years to decompose.

PROBLEM
The accumulation of PCTW in landfills and open-air dumps represents a serious public health and environmental problem that has impacts on biodiversity, water pollution, and greenhouse gas emissions. 34 billion lbs of post-consumer textile waste is generated in the US every year and of that only 15% is recycled and the rest end up in the landfills.
SOLUTION
In order to combat this issue and drive significant change we came up with 4 core solutions: The 1st is to introduce informative initiatives such as speaking at schools, clubs, businesses and special events, to advance the awareness of the growing need to recycle textiles. The 2nd is to create strategic partnerships with thrift stores, retail stores, manufacturers, and designers that will allow us to bring recycling solutions directly to their establishments. The 3rd is to partner with city departments of sustainability to place bins and host drives all through the city. The 4th is a mobile solution that will facilitate the way we track and collect textile waste in order to accurately measure our efforts and determine areas improvement.
IMPACT
The US alone is responsible for about 11 million tons of textile waste per year. In 2013, 2.3 million tons of textiles were recycled and according to the US Environmental Protection Agency(EPA), the environmental impact of this number was the same as taking 1.2 million petrol/diesel cars off the road. Our goal is to create a zero carbon textile ecosystem through our efforts, initiatives and partnerships, thus promoting a safer planet with cleaner air and water.
WHY MALVADON
A youthful approach to an old problem.
The founder- Rolland, has been involved in the textile recycling industry for over 20 year. So far Rolland has recycled over 9,600,000 lbs of post consumer textile waste (PCTW) in North Dakota, thus saving $211,200 of city and taxpayer dollars, as it costs $44 per ton on average just to unload/dump the waste at a landfill. According to the US Environmental Protection Agency(EPA), the environmental impact of this number is the same as taking 9,120 petrol/diesel cars off the road. We don't just understand how to recycle textiles, we are bringing cutting edge technology and innovation to the space.
